How to sell your produce directly as a farmer in Greece | Trofika

Guide for producers

How to sell your produce directly, with no middlemen and no e-shop

If you farm, keep bees or animals, or make something small-scale anywhere in Greece and want to sell straight to people and businesses, this is what it takes in practice: where you appear, how an order arrives, how you get paid and how you ship.

The short answer

Trofika is Greece's online farmers' market. You create a store under your own name, list your products at your own price with your own photos, and buyers from anywhere in the country send you orders. You accept, agree the delivery, and get paid directly into your account.

You need no e-shop, no subscription and no technical skills. Everything works from a phone. Trofika does not buy your products, does not store them and does not stand between you and your customer.

How it works, step by step

  1. 1

Sign up with your email or Google

It takes a minute. You give a store name, your area and a few words about what you produce.

  2. 2

    List your first product

A title, a price per kilo, litre or piece, the quantity available and photos from your phone. If you like, set a minimum order or a lower price for large quantities.

  3. 3

    A buyer sends an order

You see what they asked for, how much, for when and how they want to pay. You accept, decline or counter-offer on quantity or date.

  4. 4

    You agree the delivery

Pickup from you, a courier to their door or a BOX NOW locker. The buyer states a preference when ordering, and every order has a chat for the details.

  5. 5

    You get paid directly

By IRIS to your mobile, by transfer to your IBAN, by card or in cash. The money never passes through Trofika.

How you get paid

You choose which payment methods you accept. Buyers only see the ones you switched on.

IRIS

You register your mobile number or tax number. The buyer pays from their banking app and the money is in your account within seconds. IRIS limits apply: up to 1,000 euros per payment, and for private individuals up to 5,000 euros a month.

Bank transfer

You register an IBAN and account holder name. The buyer sees them as soon as you accept the order, together with the order number as the reference.

Card

You connect a Stripe account in about five minutes. The buyer pays online and the money is paid out to your bank. The card cost is carried by the buyer as a small service fee on top of your price.

Cash

For pickup from you or hand delivery.

How you ship

Shipping is your call, as at the street market. Trofika gives you the details and lets you choose.

BOX NOW locker

The buyer names the locker that suits them and you send the parcel from the BOX NOW app. Guide prices: small 3 euros, medium 4 euros, large 8 euros, plus 1 euro to or from the islands, up to 20 kg.

Courier to the door

ACS, Speedex or whichever company you already use. For heavy goods, a freight carrier.

Pickup from you

From the field, the workshop or your stall at the street market. Many producers start this way with customers from their own area.

What it costs

Signing up and running a store is free. There is no subscription, no charge per listing, and you pay nothing if you do not sell.

You set the price and you receive it in full. When the buyer pays by IRIS, transfer or cash, they pay exactly your price. When they pay by card, a small service fee is added and carried by them, not by you.

Who it is for

Anyone who makes something and wants to sell it under their own name: olive growers in Crete and Messinia, beekeepers in Thasos and Evia, market gardeners in Macedonia, cheesemakers on the islands, almond growers in Serres, women's cooperatives with spoon sweets. Packaged products such as oil, honey, pulses and preserves travel all over Greece. Fresh produce usually sells within your own area, by pickup or delivery.

What Trofika does not do

So you know what to expect:

  • It does not buy your product and does not guarantee sales. It gives you a shop window and orders; the rest is your work, as at the street market.
  • It does not store or transport. You ship, in the way you choose.
  • It does not hold the buyer's money. You are paid directly, which is also why there is no settlement delay.

Frequently asked questions

Can I sell on Trofika from Crete or an island?

Yes. Trofika works across all of Greece. For packaged products you ship by courier or BOX NOW, which charges 1 euro extra to or from the islands. For fresh produce most producers sell within their own area by pickup or delivery.

Do I need a farmer's tax number or a company to sell?

Not to open a store and take orders. For receipts and invoices the normal rules for any sale in Greece apply, and they are your responsibility. Trofika does not issue receipts on your behalf.

Can I sell to businesses, not only to individuals?

Yes. Restaurants, grocers and small shops order the same way. You can set a lower price for large quantities and a minimum order quantity.

How do I know the buyer will pay?

With IRIS and card the payment is made before you ship. With bank transfer you wait to see the money in your account, then ship. With cash you are paid on delivery. You decide which methods you accept.

Do I need a computer?

No. The store, the photos, the orders and the chat with the buyer all work from a phone.

Can I change my price or stop selling when the harvest is over?

Yes, whenever you like. Change the price and the available quantity, or switch a product off until the next harvest.

How do counter-offers work?

If a buyer asks for a quantity or a date that does not suit you, you propose another. They accept or decline. It is the haggling of the street market, in writing and in order.

Is there a contract or a commitment?

No. You can delete your store whenever you want.

Start with one product

You do not have to list your whole production on day one. One product, one good photo and your IRIS number are enough to take your first order.
